FEATURES

Camera Settings

Always have the right camera settings at your finger tips.

Date

Each new Moon is listed plus the two nights around it. If the date falls on a weekend, I highlight that for you too. One of the best tools to plan a future weekend for some late night photography.

Moon Phase

New Moons are the darkest skies and dark skies are one of the key conditions you need to capture great Milky Way images.

500 RULE

The 500 rule is how you calculate your shutter speed. I’ve included, 1.5 crop for Sony/Nikon/Fuji, 1.6 Crop for Canon, and the Micro four thirds crop for Olympus, Panasonic shooters.

Milky Way Rise & Set

As the season progresses the Milky Way rises and sets at different times. I give you the approximate time* so that you can plan your outing in advance.

Milky Way Position

The angle of the Milky Way changes as the season rolls on. After you get some experience under your belt, you’ll start to pay attention to how it’s angles at different times of the year.
